Harris County’s Rotary Community Shred Day

Harris County’s Rotary Community Shred Day

The Rotary Club of Harris County is planning its annual “Shred Day” Community Event. This is a free event at which professional document shredding is available for the safe destruction of sensitive personal documents such as bank statements, medical records, tax returns, etc.

Date May 14th, Time 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Place, Harris County Courthouse Parking Lot

This year as part of the event, the Harris County Sheriff’s Department will provide a receptacle for the proper disposal of unused prescription and over-the-counter medications, keeping these substances out of our landfills and water supply. Once again we will have Goodwill on hand to accept used electronics and hard drives for secure disposal.

We will take the opportunity of being together that day and work on a service project. Last year we
built and delivered planter boxes to Park Elementary for their school garden. This year’s project will be similar.

This has become a popular community event which is also our main fund-raiser. Although we “pass the bucket” to each friend who brings items to be shredded, we rely heavily on sponsorships to reach our goals.

Here’s a short list of the projects the Harris County Rotary Club completes each year:

Purchase and deliver dictionaries to each third-grader in all four elementary schools

Build ramps for disabled who would otherwise not be able to easily leave their homes

Contribute money to F.O.C.U.S. for the purchase of food at Thanksgiving

Pay for testing for G.E.D. students

Install safety bars in homes of elderly to prevent falls

Assisted with needs of homeless teens in Harris County, and much more.

Provide Christmas for a Harris County family.

All projects are done in Harris County for Harris County’s citizens!

Please consider sponsoring our Annual Shred Day!
